Wind and water conditions
At Rousset, on Lake Serre-Ponçon, account for hydraulic structures, wind, thunderstorms and prohibited areas. Before boating, check the weather, water level and temperature, your equipment and posted restrictions. The dam viewpoint is on land, not a launch site. Choose a separate open access point and respect the markers and the dam exclusion zone. Wear a suitable buoyancy aid. On Serre-Ponçon, do not land on the islet of the Saint-Michel chapel without a prefectural exemption. All navigation is prohibited within the dam exclusion zone, extending 300 m upstream of the furthest upstream structure. Beach craft must stay in the shoreline strip: 100 m where unmarked, or the width marked by buoys. When firefighting aircraft scoop water, clear their operating area immediately and return to the shoreline strip. In a canoe, kayak or on a paddleboard, carry an individual light signal and wear a suitable buoyancy aid.
